Maintenance, repair, motor program - We feel that the Vanagon is one of the best vehicles that VW has ever made. Every member of the Wolfsburg team is an enthusiastic owner of one, so needless to say it’s also one of our favorite vehicles to work on. Whether you have a Syncro, a Camper, or one of the different variations of Vanagon, we have seen it all.

Through many years of experience we have developed a high level of expertise to properly repair and do maintenance on Vanagons and we take pride in doing a solid job. There is nothing that drives like a well maintained Vanagon. They are well worth the investment.

Vanagon Motors - We now offer two different motors for liquid cooled Vanagons, 2.2 Liter and 2.4 Liter, as well as precisely built air-cooled and diesel motors.

2.2 Liter - This is our replacement motor for 1.9L as well as the 2.1L. These motors feature welded cases, re-worked AMC cylinder heads (the best waterboxer head available), oem coolant pumps, modified oiling systems, brand new (not remanufactured) Bilstein lifters, balanced rotating and reciprocating assemblies, powder coated intake and cooling system pipes all in addition to standard rebuilding procedures. This is all done by technicians who have years of experience and who have built hundreds of motors to date.

2.4 Liter - This motor is another version that is a replacement for the 2.1L used on Vanagons from 1986 through 1992. It includes all of the features of the 2.2L plus a fully balanced counterweighted and stroked crankshaft, JE forged aluminum pistons, H-beam connecting rods and a camshaft with a special performance profile that allows for clean emissions and will work with the stock fuel injection system. It’s awesome for roadtrips, especially when pulling long grades. Our customers all love them! It’s a great alternative to an engine conversion such as a Subaru. You have all of the benefits of a stock motor with the power of a more modern vehicle. We have had nothing but positive feedback from everyone who owns one.

2.0 Liter & Diesel - As with our waterboxers we build awesome air-cooled and diesel motors as well. Due to the limitations of the design of these motors, we limit these to stock displacements. However, these run well when built properly, with care, and installed properly.
